Intensified effort needs to be taken to reduce maternal deaths- Padmashree Dr. Raman Gangakhedkar
Dr. Arti Nimkar elected as President and Dr. Meenakshi Deshpande is appointed as General Secretary
of Pune Obstetric and Gynecological Society (POGS) .
Pune: “Covid pandemic shook the whole world, but war level work was done at all levels to control the disease. Similar efforts need to be taken to control non-communicable diseases like diabetes, blood pressure, and cancer. Reducing maternal deaths during childbirth is a need of an hour so dedicated efforts should be taken on that front as well.” asserted Padmashri Dr. Raman Gangakhedkar at the installation ceremony of the Obstetric and Gynecological Society (POGS). Guest of Honor FOGSI President Dr Jaydeep Tank appreciated working of POGS and gave oath . FOGSI President Elect Dr Sunita Tandulwadkar told her plans for improvements.
On this occasion Dr. Aarti Nimkar took charge from Past president Dr. Meenu Agarwal.
Assuming the Presidency for the year 2024-25, Dr. Aarti Nimkar expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to lead POGS and pledged to uphold the organization’s esteemed legacy. Dr. Nimkar outlined her vision for the organization’s progress and reaffirmed her commitment to advancing women’s health initiatives.
During the ceremony, Dr. Nimkar introduced her dedicated team, comprising Vice Presidents Dr. Ashwini Kale, Dr. Mangala Wani, Secretary Dr. Meenakshi Deshpande, Treasurer Dr. Vaijayanti Patwardhan, and Clinical Secretary Dr. Amol Lunkad.
The installation ceremony marked a pivotal moment for POGS, signaling a renewed commitment to excellence in women’s healthcare and a collaborative approach to addressing women’s healthcare challenges in the region.
POGS History
In 1953 ,a small group of 5 gynaecologists gathered at IMA Hall & POGS was born. Dr.Y.V. Phatak was the first President with Dr.A.R.Paranjpe.
POGS Strength
We have grown from a membership of 5 to 750. All the committee members have contributed to the success of POGS from its inception till date.
POGS Election
A member can apply for maximum ONE council members post & ONE office bearers post. However he/she can contest for only ONE post.
